The Kidneys in Health and Disease

This course will review renal anatomy and nephron structure, principles of renal physiology, Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) prevalence and classification, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) prevalence and classification.

Fluid Management in Kidney Disease

This course will describe fluid compartments of the body and the role of the kidneys in fluid management, the consequences of fluid overload in kidney disease, guideline recommendations on fluid management approaches and the principles and applications of tools for measuring and evaluating fluid overload in patients with kidney disease.

Anemia Management in Kidney Disease

This course discusses the clinical manifestations, diagnostic criteria, etiologies and guideline recommendations on the management of anemia in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). It provides an overview on iron deficiency anemia, Erythropoietin Stimulating Agents (ESAs) recommendations and the use of IV vs. oral iron agents.

Understanding Hyperphosphatemia and Mineral Bone Disorder

This course discusses the pathophysiology of Mineral Bone Disorder in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and reviews the roles of the major players in mineral bone homeostasis. The course also provides an introduction to the management and treatment approaches for this disorder.

Understanding Hyperphosphatemia and Mineral Bone Disorder - Module 1

This module discusses the definition of mineral bone disorder (MBD) in chronic kidney disease (CKD), important markers in CKD-MBD and monitoring parameters.

Understanding Hyperphosphatemia and Mineral Bone Disorder - Module 2

This module provides an overview on pathophysiology of CKD-MBD and review the roles of different key players in mineral bone homeostasis.

Understanding Hyperphosphatemia and Mineral Bone Disorder - Module 3

This module provides an introduction to the management and treatment approaches for CKD-MBD.

Fluids and Electrolytes

This course provides a basic foundation for understanding of the critical relationship between five major electrolytes and their impact on intracellular and extracellular fluid volume.
